Aqua-Chem Salutes 2013 Employee of the Year, Roy Ruehl!
On March 12, 2014 a luncheon was held to celebrate all Aqua-Chem 2013 Employees of the Month and to announce the recipient of the 2013 Employee of the Year. A special recognition was given to Roy Ruehl to acknowledge his extraordinary achievement not only over the past year, but for almost 45 years!
Roy joined Aqua-Chem, Inc. in 1969 after serving 4 years in the US Navy. Based out of the New Orleans Water Tech Division, he began his extensive career as a Service Technician under the guidance of his mentor, long time Aqua-Chem Service Director, Phil Flasch. His exceptional mechanical, electrical, and engineering skills, and his ability to ensure our equipment’s operational capabilities in the field led to a promotion as an Engineering Technician. Roy moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1974 to help set up the Vapor Compression & Reverse Osmosis manufacturing and testing facility. He later transitioned into the Research & Development department until the mid-eighties. Roy was involved with the onsite testing and inception of many Aqua-Chem original equipment designs, including the Spray Film Vapor Compression units that are the forerunners of the BR and SR Series of units we manufacture today. He was also instrumental in the development of the compressors and pedestal pumps we currently use.
In 1989, Roy followed as Aqua-Chem moved to its current worldwide headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Roy has since assumed the duties of his former mentor as Aqua-Chem’s in-house Factory Direct Technical Advisor.
Roy is the outside face of Aqua-Chem to many customers around the world. Roy has trained numerous engineers, service technicians, and team members on a multitude of product lines during his career. From his humble beginnings as a Wisconsin farmer, hunter, fishing guide, and volunteer fireman, to a widely respected international service advisor and creative engineer, Roy continues to be an integral part of the success here at Aqua-Chem.
