Aqua-Chem acquired the Vaponics line of multiple effect stills in 2000 to enhance our offerings to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Vaponics stills have been used to produce water for injection since the late 1960s. Now Water Technologies offers the full Vaponics product line with our own improvements included, and in capacities from 50 to 3000 gph.

Vaponics multiple effect stills utilize a unique u-tube evaporator design that eliminates tube sheet joint failure. It stops adherence of scale by allowing the tubes to expand and contract freely without stress. Units are available with a varying number of distillation columns to meet your application needs.

Aqua-Chem has further enhanced the design of Vaponics units by adding improved feedwater and plant steam controls via PID loop control through the PLC of the unit. The units are very ease to use by interfacing though the HMI panelviews that are linked to the PLC. The units are automatic in operation by starting, stopping, and restarting based on tank signals.

All of the feedwater preheaters and condensers are shell and tube, double tube sheet heat exchangers constructed of stainless steel. This ensures durability and reliability to protect the feedwater from being contaminated by other liquids. Our Vaponics units are equipped with V-4 separators that ensure four degrees of separation. The steam is stripped of any liquids through a series of mini baffles and centrifugal separators. Our Vaponics units can be provided with electropolish surfaces, different instrument packages, and other options to meet the needs of our customers.

Validation documentation is an integral part of our multiple effect units. Our documentation is designed to provide data and documentation to assist our customers with their IQ, OQ, and PQ requirements. Our quality system for our pharmaceutical units is very comprehensive and demanding. Our systems are factory tested with FAT documentation and endotoxin challenge with third party documentation. All of our endotoxin tests have indicated non-detectable levels of endotoxins which equates to a log reduction of
4 to 5.
