Spray-Film Principle

The feedwater is fed through heat exchangers and preheated by the outgoing distillate and blowdown. The start-up steam is produced in an external boiler with electric immersion heaters. The feedwater is fed through a vent condenser bundle where it is further preheated before it enters the shell where it combines with the recirculated brine. Recirculation pump then pumps the water from the sump to the spray header where it is sprayed over the tube bundle. A portion is evaporated as pure steam and the remainder is collected in the sump to be further recirculated. A small portion is discharged as blowdown to maintain proper concentration. Steam generated inside the evaporator is drawn through the demisters by the centrifugal compressor which increases its pressure and temperature through compression. The steam is then discharged inside the tube bundle where it condenses into pure distillate. The distillate is passed through the heat exchanger to be cooled by the incoming feedwater. Distillate is finally tested via conductivity instrument and sent to distillate storage or waste.

Aqua-Chem vapor compression unit is a completely packaged unit on a carbon steel frame requiring no field erection or assembly.
